Album Review: Arrows Over Athens - Myths, Monsters & The Maker
Signed to Take This To Heart records female led pop-punkers Arrows Over Athens are set to release their third EP on the 16th of July. Already available for the general public is spunky first track "Thirty Years Peace," but dabbling in music journalism has its perks which happen to include early album streams. Standing at six tracks long the EP is brimming with fast paced punk and dual power vocals from Michelle and Randy that harmonise like no other. Previous releases were praised on their catchiness, leaving Arrows songs stuck in your mind for days and with Myths, Monsters & The Maker they certainly haven't forgotten how to capture part of the critics' favourite aspect. It's pleasant to listen to in the background with everyone complimenting each other instrumentally and yet is's also the kind of music you can get lost in or blast on a summers day, windows down road trip kinda vibe. For me the highlight of the EP is the final track "Marathon; 490 BC (Times Have Changed)" which closes the album beautifully with a lulling piano and those sugary dual vocals taking on a haunting tone.
