September 29th marks the 3rd birthday of Paramore's 3rd studio album. Released on Fueled By Ramen and produced by Rob Cavallo, 'Brand New Eyes' climbed it's way up the charts in several countries, including going platinum in the UK, making it their highest charting album - yet anyway.
Brand New Eyes has a song for everyone. Whether it's the angry Ignorance, the love ballad The Only Exception or the hopeful Looking Up the album contains a variety of songs with music that ranges from rough guitars and feisty drumming to slow and soft instruments accompanied by hazy vocals, highlighted on the tracks Misguided Ghosts and All I Wanted.
Depending on where you live in the world and where you got your copy from, the album also includes a selection of the songs acoustically. These stripped down versions, which include Turn It Off and Where The Lines Overlap, are just as stunning as their full band counterparts and should not be looked over by any listeners thinking something along the lines of 'I've already heard it why do I need to hear it again?'
A limited edition deluxe box set version of the album was available which included the journal written by Hayley Williams; an exclusive poster; the lyrics booklet with individual photographs for each track taken by the talented Ryan Russell; a 7" vinyl featuring acoustic tracks; a photograph of each band member; a certificate of authenticity and a DVD of the making of the album.
The band released 5 songs from the album and made videos to accompany them: Careful, Ignorance, Brick By Boring Brick, The Only Exception and Playing God.
3 years on and Paramore have toured the world, lost the Farro brothers, toured the world some more, released 4 new songs and are currently in the studio working on album number 4 and I for one cannot wait to hear what they have in store for us.
(And y'know it'd also be nice to hear All I Wanted live)
